Pema Tseden, 2023). On the Tibetan plateau, a snow leopard breaks into a herder's sheep pen and kills nine rams. Jinpa, the herder, locks the animal inside and refuses to release it without compensation — but killing a snow leopard is a serious crime. His father sees the creature as a sacred spirit and wants it freed. His brother, a young Buddhist monk, dreams of the leopard and offers everything he has for its life. A TV crew arrives. Then the authorities. What begins as a dispute over livestock becomes something far larger: a collision between tradition and modernity, faith and law, human need and the wild. Completed just weeks before Pema Tseden's sudden death in May 2023, Snow Leopard is his final gift to cinema — described by Sight & Sound as among his most ambitious and beautiful works. Winner of the Grand Prix at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival. Premiered out of competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
